DefconExpanded Builds

Welcome to our collection of modded DEFCON builds! This page contains all of the custom DEFCON clients that we have made for the community.

The Sync Practice Client is now available, as a beta release!

Special thanks to bert_the_turtle for helping with the cross-platform development, making it possible for everyone to enjoy these modded builds regardless of their platform.

MacOS and Linux builds are supported and always in the works for these builds, getting Mac builds to work is tricky since its a small part of the DEFCON community.

If you get a virus warning on Windows builds, temporarily disable Windows Defender as these builds aren't digitally signed. Check out our installation guide below if you are struggling.

The 8-16 player builds also support Dedcon so you can host your own servers!

Important Information

Windows Users

If you get a virus warning, temporarily disable Windows Defender. These builds aren't digitally signed so they may trigger false positives.

Linux & MacOS Users

Download the appropriate .tar file and extract it anywhere you prefer. The builds are cross-platform compatible. For MacOS ARM users, the Intel builds work through Rosetta translation

Make sure to backup your original DEFCON installation before installing modded builds.

Start Sync Practice

A guided practice mode that shows you which silos to launch and what order, and the timing of each launch.
Currently extremely simple and only handles 1 nuke at a time, down the line full launch sequences will be added!

All you have to do is double click anywhere on the map and your silos will calculate the best launch pattern.

8-16 Player Clients

- Includes map mods that contain 7-16 player configurations
- Empty bomber launch, launch bombers without a nuke
- Better modding support, customizable unit stats
- A ton of new game options to play around with

Manual Installation:

2. Extract to your DEFCON installation directory (usually in C:/Steam/steamapps/common/DEFCON/)
3. Or create a new folder and copy all your steam defcon files into it
4. Overwrite existing files when prompted

Note: You may need to temporarily disable Windows Defender to avoid false virus warnings.
